Pest Control in Nottawa
A village on the old Hurontario road with farmland on every side. The autumn arrival here is sharper and earlier than in Collingwood, and it is set by the combine.
Watch the field, not the forecast. That is the whole of it. Nottawa sits just south of Collingwood on County Road 124 in Clearview Township, on the fertile lowland running back from the bay — close enough to town that people expect the Collingwood pest calendar, and far enough into the fields that they do not get it.
The combine sets the date, not the cold
Field mice move when their cover disappears, and on cropland that happens in a single afternoon. A field cut in September sends its population outwards immediately, and the buildings at the edge of the village take it — regardless of how mild the weather is that week.
This is the most common reason we are called out here in the wrong month. People wait for cold weather because that is what they were told, and the animals arrived three weeks earlier when the field was worked. If you can see a crop from your kitchen window, watch the field rather than the forecast.
What that means for a village property
- Exclusion belongs in August, before harvest, not in October after it.
- The pressure is seasonal and external, so interior baiting alone is refilled from outside every year.
- Garage and outbuilding doors matter more than they do in town — a rural garage is usually the first building entered and the one nobody checks.
- Lake-effect snow banks against walls and hides ground-level entries for months. What you cannot see in January was open in November.
None of which is complicated. It is simply a different month from the one most people have in mind, and moving the date is free.
Mouse exterminator and cluster fly work in Nottawa
The same fields that send the mice send the cluster flies, and both arrive on the sun-facing walls within a few weeks of each other. One visit in late August or early September covers the exclusion and the perimeter together, which is the cheapest and least disruptive way this ever gets done. See mice and rats.
Booking work in Nottawa
Tell us what you have actually seen and where, and roughly when it started. That is usually enough to say whether you are looking at something we should be at this afternoon, something that wants a booking, or something where the honest answer is to wait — bat exclusion in July being the clearest example of the last one.
